He has no voice, or name, only a rank, Eighth. He doesn’t know the details of the mission, only his duties. Protect his Offside. Let her do the shooting. There is something familiar about the humans, something affecting about the way they scream and fall, but Eighth can’t let that distract him. All he can do is follow his Offside and do what she tells him: kick down doors, tear locks open. He lives to make her happy.

Until a human kills her…

Sixteen year-old Raven has one summer as a camp counsellor to try to repair the damage she’s done to her life, to prove that she’s not just another kid who has gone off the rails, to give her boyfriend, Tucker a chance to live up to his promises. But all those good intentions are lost when the terrifying armored Nahx invade, destroying the cities, taking control of half the planet. In their remote Alberta wilderness camp, Raven and her friends might be safe if they can just remain undetected, and find some way to survive the Canadian winter.

But then a Nahx kills Tucker…

Driven by vengeance and fear, Eighth and Raven cross paths in an unfamiliar world, a world forever changed by violent forces neither of them understands. They should hate each other. They should want each other dead. But their grief both draws them together and breaks them down, until all they have left is their shared goal – to get Raven and her friends out of the occupied zone, even though for Eighth, the journey means almost certain death.

“Detailed settings and swift action make this novel an edge-of-your-seat page-turner.” VOYA Magazine

(The plot takes place in full action, which means to know closely the uncertainty of the characters and brutalities of alien soldiers… Blood and fire, hatred and fanaticism, to whose flames the author gives the breath of understanding between a Nahx and a human. What brings them together and how will the crossing of their paths end? How exciting it was!)” Review of Spanish edition in Torre de Babel

“Teens will love the pace and dialogue.. readers will be sucked into humanity’s struggle to survive and the Nahx’s all too focused efforts to ensure that it doesn’t.” School Library Journal September 2017

“Eighth’s character drew me in unlike a male lead has in quite some time.  His confusion was so palpable. His alien self-conflicting with human-like emotions is what made for such a strong, realistic protagonist.” Book Swoon

“Un libro que te sorprende por la profundidad que oculta y por la emotividad que desprende, con unos protagonistas diferentes a lo habitual y que te lleva a través de un viaje de sentimientos encontrados. Una preciosa historia que estoy deseando continuar….9/10.” Lectura Directa

“…a gripping novel, complete with a slow build and a gut-punch of a finale that hooks you in and doesn’t let up.” Culturefly

“The main character Raven is so complex and intricate. Prendergast has woven a true, real young teenager in the character of Raven which is this books biggest strength. She makes mistakes and gets frustrated, she’s angry and sad and in love all in one.” The Kindred Reader

“Balls to the walls badass” Write, Edit, Read, Repeat

“…there is poetry to this story, hence my comparison of this novel to an arthouse film in book form. Jarring, raw shots of scenes, each one a window into the hearts of two sentient creatures who find themselves on opposing sides of a planetary invasion.” Alexa Loves Books

“Apocalypse for the win” Reading with Rendz

“The story is strongly driven by well thought-out characters who are not always likeable but nonetheless striking in their complexity. We are given a look at humanity that’s been peeled back a few layers due to trauma, loss, and heartbreak.” She Turns Pages

“The story is not a soppy sci fi romance…What we have is a bleak but also character driven survival tale with a very beating heart at the center.” Online Eccentric Librarian

“Prendergast is a talented sci-fi writer – her world building is impeccable, her character development is complex, and her pacing is spot on.” Quill & Quire.

“There’s something eerie and complicated about this book, about the story of Eighth and Raven.” Me On Books

“HOLY. SH*T. YOU GUYS. There are not enough words to properly describe how much I LOVED this book! And the more time that passes, the more I love it. I can’t get it out of my head. I thought about it all day the following day after I finished it. I just can’t stop thinking about it! It’s really gotten under my skin in a way that not many books do.” Novel Heartbeat

“It really caught me off guard how intensely emotional it was, and how much it would affect me. The writing style was addicting in a gut-wrenching way; full of intensity and rage and sadness.” She Turns Pages

  1. I have no words to explain my love for this book. I cried, I laughed, I felt as if I was apart of the story. You get so many amazing reviews and mine is probably not very important but I have so many questions about the book!! Why are the Nahx on Earth? What even happened at the end of the book?! Im so confused and in desperate need of a sequel, I’m not sure if you have plans to write another book but I really want to know what happens to Raven, Topher, August, and frankly the whole world~ (i’m struggling with this website so idk if your even going to get this comment or if i’ve tried and you’ve gotten it about a million times! oh well :3 )

  2. I read constantly, preferably good books, but I will literally read anything. The Milian Dialogues or Superman comics, if it has words, I absorb them as if they are necessary for survival. Fortunately for OCD readers like myself, occasionally a book comes along that breaks through the alphabetical numbness and reaches not just the heart, but the soul. Zero Repeat Forever touched my soul. You said the book was important to you. The book is important, period. To make us examine what we consider to be ‘human’ in such a fundamental way is important. My only slight critique would be; please, love, don’t make us languish for 6 years for the next Nahx tale, if at all possible. But if it is, I will be waiting, always repeat forever. Thank you!

  3. OMG!!! Just finished reading this amazing book. Im so ready for the #2 book of zero repeats forever to come out. Keep up the great work!

    1. Thanks so much for your comment. I’m happy you enjoyed it. I’m hard at work on the sequel right now so this is very encouraging to me!

  4. When I bought this book back in January, I was just looking for something to read after my first semester exams to pass by time since I knew I wouldn’t be sleeping afterwards. Also, it was 50% off so who wouldn’t take it? The title was intriguing and the synopsis seemed pretty good. I’ve never been one to really be interested in post-apocalyptic, alien invasion type of books but I picked this one up. Originally, I read the first 40 pages after buying it then set it down and (unfortunately) didn’t pick it back up until three days ago. I read over 300 pages in one day. That’s more than I’ve ever read in one sitting because I not much of a reader to be honest but something about this book kept me hooked. I loved the characters and world that this book has built. As a seventeen-year-old girl I can say I absolutely love Raven and the fact she isn’t a cookie cutter heroine. Bonus points for her being mixed! Also, Eighth seems so sweet with good intentions. I’ve never been put into a situation where I’ve had to wait for another book in a series to come out but I’m so excited for the next. It was an absolute lovely book so I’m gonna make sure I’m one of the first to buy the second book whenever it comes out!

    1. Thank you so much! That’s very encouraging. If you want to you can sign up for my (very infrequent) newsletter to keep you up to date with when book two will be released.

  5. Hello! I was wondering if you knew when we could expect the sequel to ZERO REPEAT FOREVER? I loved the first book and cannot wait to see what happens next!

    1. Some time next year (2019) I think. Thanks for reading and for your kind comments. I’m so glad you enjoyed it. If you want to you can sign up for my (very infrequent) newsletter to keep you up to date with when book two will be released.

      1. Yay! I cannot wait to read it! 🙂 And I think I signed up for the newsletter yesterday, will go make sure haha

  6. I was recently suggested this book during a Book Club meeting from a good friend of mine, and after a few pages I was hooked. Later that night, I brought the book down to the dinner table and hid it in my lap so I was able to get past a few more pages before being caught. Raven really stayed in my mind long after I finished, and I spent a few nights looking for another book to satisfy me the same way Zero Repeat Forever had.
A few days later, I started a few sketches of Eighth and Raven after finishing the novel, and I’m wondering how (or where) I can share them with you?

    1. I’m so happy you enjoyed it! You can share your images with me on my social media if you like. The links are above. Thank you!

  7. so, I finished Zero Repeat Forever a few months ago, and I am dying for the next one. I know you can’t rush perfection but I can’t wait to see when it’s gonna be released >< The suspension is killing me

    1. Thank you for your comment, that’s so sweet. I’m writing as fast as I can! We’ll have an announcement soon. 🙂
